Welcome from Alyssa and Jessica
Hi! We’re Alyssa & Jessica, the authors of Georgetown Academy. Thanks for stopping by to learn more about our new series!
Georgetown Academy is set inside the world of D.C’s most elite private school, where the children of politicians practice more mudslinging, sex scandals, and power plays than their parents on the Hill.
We step into the shoes of four sophomores – Brinley, Ellie, Evan, and Taryn – as they navigate issues of love, friendship, betrayal and scandal, all within the pressure cooker of the nation’s capital.
The series also lets you choose which girl you want to follow during a critical night of fun-filled drama. Depending on who you pick, you’ll see scandalous behavior, unexpected liaisons, and secret betrayals…all giving you a different perspective as the night unfolds.
We initially got the idea for this series during the 2008 presidential election when the sons and daughters of the candidates received almost as much media coverage as the candidates themselves. We started to wonder what it would be like as a teenager living in such a high-powered fishbowl with such close access to the biggest decision-makers in the world.
After talking to a few of our friends who went to schools in D.C. similar to Georgetown Academy and hearing some of their authentic, one-of-a-kind stories, we knew we had to write this series. Plus, we’re total political junkies so the backdrop was a natural fit.
We’re completely obsessed with our main characters and hope you’ll love them, too!
— xoxo, A&J
About the authors
Jessica Koosed Etting and Alyssa Embree Schwartz met the first day of freshman year at the
University of Southern California and instantly bonded over their obsessions with Brenda Walsh, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and The Babysitters Club books they read growing up. After spending a full year mourning the end of college, they began writing television and feature scripts together. They have set up pilots at ABC, NBC, Fox and CW, and sold films to The Weinstein Company, Happy Madison, Paramount, New Regency, MGM and Alloy Entertainment. They love writing female-centric stories, especially for teen and tween audiences, mainly because they still think they are the 18-year-old girls they were when they first met at USC.
